Its all about me…

Im a designer based in Weymouth, Dorset. Currently I work full time as a digital designer and developer for an American company with a base in Poole, but I also do other projects in my spare time. Sometimes these are connected with specifically digital visual design - some times they are nothing to do with websites at all. Some people would say this is tantamount to being unskilled in anything really, but I just hate having to do one job, Ive always liked variety.

What Ive done :

Designed all kinds of digital content, as well as coding that goes with it. Websites tend to be my mainstay, and within that I have worked on animation and interactivity a lot. That said some of my recent projects have been all about visual design, identity and even logo more for print.

I make no bones about being a Mac person. I can use a PC if push comes to shove. I know how to get to Australia on a plane. Don’t mean Im gonna go.

Professional History :

I started working professionally as a designer back in 1997, for a print and then fledgling digital design company based in Weymouth. A move to Brighton in 1998 got me into coding websites when I worked as a front-end developer. This gave me the chance to move around about a bit and work some freelance for London companies. In 2003 I moved to London full time and worked bits of freelance and a full-time digital designer position with one company based in city for three or so years. I worked on multimedia in Flash, coding in actionscript and making interactive animations, as well as designing websites. By 2008 I decided that after some ten years I wanted to move back to my hometown Weymouth whilst continuing to make stuff for London based companies freelance. A few years ago I started to realise that I was probably better to either move back to London or take full time work in Dorset and years of working remotely made me want to work with people face to face. I did a stint with a local food production company to find my feet for a while, working as in inhouse designer, and progressed to my current position about a year or so ago. After starting ironically after just two weeks Covid happened and Im back to working remotely again. Like a sign.

Personal :

I live in Weymouth with my family. I work on my projects most of which are blogged here. Motorbikes are a huge passion for me - I ride a Triumph Bonneville ( modern 900 ) and food, gastronomy is a big part of my life. I'm also working on a 1967 AMC rebel Rambler which is another side project. I do a lot of my own building work when the opportunity arises, and I have done extensive renovations to my own properties.
